In a perfect world we would all bake from scratch.
But life isn’t always perfect.
My children were young, and our world revolved around an endless and wonderful stream of birthday parties, class picnics, family potlucks, holiday get-togethers, all great times to bring a cake to share. Except I didn’t have the time to bake one from scratch. I used a cake mix, improved on its method, added a homemade frosting, and that real-life scenario became The Cake Mix Doctor.
As a from-scratch baker, you can’t top a cake mix for speed. But what bothered me about cake mix was that it contained artificial ingredients, and I vowed to someday create a mix that was essentially from-scratch. Nothing artificial, only real ingredients, easy, one-bowl, versatile, and you can add your favorite frosting.
That pledge became a reality in 2011 when my cake mixes went on shelves. Many thanks to the Central Markets in Texas for believing in my idea, tasting the difference in my mixes, and being my first customer. Today, I am in supermarkets stretching from Texas to Massachusetts, and the company is growing.
I have two flavors – simply yellow and classic chocolate. Bebe’s brownies, formulated from my mother’s recipe is soon to follow. I recently reformulated to remove the bleached flour so these mixes consist of completely natural ingredients. And
So stay tuned to my story, which is evolving from that real-life moment 15 years ago, when I understood why busy bakers use cake mixes. I now produce a cake mix you can feel really good about baking in this not-so-perfect world!
